Directed by Adam Shankman
Starring Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, Maya Rudolph,
I remember seeing this film way back in 2007 and being surprised by the movie. It was an intelligent parody of Disney movies. It was charming and fun, it took the cliches of Disney films and brought them to the screen in a smart way. So when the sequel was announced I was happy to see these characters again.
This time around Giselle is living happily ever after. But somehow things are not perfect and the family moves to a new town. Giselle gets a wishing wand as a gift and makes a wish that threatens her happily ever after.
There is always the fear that a sequel while great to revisit the characters, in the end, it might ruin the story or what was loved about the first one. I have to say that for me the movie worked and carried the same charm and warmth that the first film had. It still made a bit of fun at the cliches of the Disney animated movies. The story was good, it was interesting and it was fun to see. I liked the plot line of how her wish welt wrong I did not expect that.
There are mainly three new characters, but it’s Maya Rudolph that shines, she is great as the main villain, making her evil and funny. Amy Adams and the rest of the returning cast were great as they were in the first film.
In the end, the main goal of the movie is achieved, it’s a fun family film.
