In what has to be one of the most anticipated films in the MCU mainly because of what the tragic loss of Chadwick Boseman and how they would continue telling the story of Wakanda and the Black Panther. There were high hopes for this film after phase IV of the MCU has not been up to par with past phases, excluding Spider-Man and Dr. Strange, there have not been other truly great films or series.
The story starts as Wakanda mourns the loss of king T’Challa. As his mother once again becomes Queen, she has to keep the outside world from getting their vibranium.
Like always I don’t want to get into details of the story and try to give a review spoiler free. I have to say that this is the kind of movie Thor should have been and maybe more MCU projects. Once again Marvel gave a film with a serious tone and yet have the usual funny moments without ruining the movie. It is a long film but it has a nice pace and the story moves along just fine. It has a lot of action to complement a good story.
Angela Bassett stole every scene she was in giving a great performance. The rest of the cast continues to expand their characters, but I think Bassett stepped up and delivered a mighty performance.
I think this is a great film and it was respectful to the memory of Bossman.
