This is a film that many have waited to see. I came to the theater with little expectations. But this film needs to be a success for DC. With all that is going on with the brand, they need a win. For me this is a character I know little about so while I have little expectations, I am interested in learning about the character.
The story takes place in Kahndak where they have been hostage by a military presence. A group of locals is trying to find the crown of Sabacc to keep it from the wrong hands. And in the process, they wake Teth-Adam, a champion chosen by the gods to protect the people.
That is a simple summary to not give too much away. I have to say I enjoyed the movie a lot. It has a good story, the movie is fun and the action is non-stop. I enjoyed the group of characters assembled for this film and the Black Adam’s origin story was very good. It was funny without being all out silly like Thor, sorry to admit it because Thor deserves better. I liked that they did not hold back on the dark nature of the character and the violent nature the character has. I thought it was a well-done movie.
The Rock was good, I think he achieved a good enough performance. The project was enhanced by the presence of Pierce Brosnan, but all the actors did a good job in their roles.
The critics have given the movie a low scores but I never listen to Rotten Tomatoes, I saw a fun film filled with action and a good story.
