I came into this film thinking it was another film about a ware wolf. It was something entirely different. The film is a serious drama movie that tackles a subject that at least I had not seen in a movie before, not this way anyway.
The film focuses on Jacob as his parents take him to this hospital where they try to help people who believe they are animals. Jacob believes he is a wolf.
What can I say about the film. It was interesting and because it deals with a serious subject, I felt it was done in a way where it did not feel like mocking people who live through this. I think the error in the movie is making the doctors the villains, that has been done before. You could have a story where the doctors were trying to help without the evil ways shown here, and in the end you can have the character win by being himself since that is the main purpose of the story based on what I understood fromnthe film. The idea now that thinking different makes the other side evil is wrong and if you wanted to shed light on something there are other ways to do that than going the easy way and make the doctors the villains because those who think different are bad people.
The movie is not bad but it’s not great either. I understand they wanted to shed light on that kind of treatment but in terms of adding suspense to the film for me it failed. For me is another film with patients getting mistreated.
The actors did a great job in making this character real and bring them respectfully to the screen. MacKay really got into the role and was great in the scenes where he was the wolf. Lily- Rose also gave a good performance.
