Created Ryan Murphy, Jeffrey Cohen and Michael Zam
Starring Susan Sarandon, Jessica Lange, Alfred Molina, Stanly Tucci, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Kathy Bates
I was drawn to this show because I was curious about the story and because of the cast. I have not seen films by either Crawford or Davis, but I knew of the rivalry and was curious to see how they would tell the story.
The movie takes a look at the relationship between Davis and Crawford during the making of the successful film “Whatever happened to Baby Jane” and the aftermath of the film. It also takes a look at Hollywood during the studio era and how hard it was for women to work and get specific.
I have to say I loved the show. The story is interesting at least for me because I like historic portrayals of that time in Hollywood. The show has many other characters and each had their own stories that added to the show so it was not just about the two main characters. Is hard to say why these two actresses hated each other so much and the show does not go into it, it just shows us the rivalry.
One of the best things about the show has to be the performances. Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange did an amazing job in bringing these two characters to life. Alfred Molina also shines as the director of the movie. Stanley Tucci is always great he is a great actor. And then as a bonus, you have Kathy Bates and Catherine Zeta-Jones in secondary roles.
I enjoyed the series a lot. The ways movies were made were so different, I like to see movies or series where they recreate this era. I think this one has a lot of good things.
