Directed by Joseph Kosinski
Starting Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller, Jurnee Smollett
This movie looked interesting when I saw the trailer and also it looked like a different role for Hemsworth. The movie is based on a short story written by George Saunders.
The story is set in a remote place called Spiderhead where convicts are taken after they agree to be part of drug testing. They agree to be part of the experiment and they live in the facility with more freedoms than they would have in a normal jail.
The movie had a lot of promise based on the story but it fell short in terms of being a film to keep you tense. You have a villain that had the power to do damage and I think they kept him tamed and it hurt the movie a bit. I won’t say the movie is bad because it is not bad, I just feel it had the potential to be better. But the film works in other ways. It is interesting and it has good characters. It is entertaining for a movie night, not a masterpiece but it can do the job of entertaining an audience.
Chris Hemsworth was good as the villain, the character could have been made eviler, but that is not Hemsworth’s fault. Teller who was good in Maverick continues giving good performances.
