Directed by Michael Bay
Starting Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Eiza González,
I heard that this was an intense film but that was not enough to motivate me to see it in a movie theater. But the film is now available on Peacock I decided to see it. I do like Jake Gyllenhaal’s movies so that was another factor for seeing the movie.
Will Sharp needs money for his wife to get an operation but no insurance will help him. Desperate he goes to his brother Danny who has been a criminal for many years. Danny asks Will to participate in a bank robbery and there get the money he needs. When it all goes wrong they find themselves in an ambulance being chased by the police all over Los Angeles.
What an intense ride! This movie is fast, intense, and thrilling and it’s like that for most of the film. The story is established quickly and then it just goes insane. I have to give a lot of credit to Michael Bay because I think the way the film is directed and shot influences a lot on the success the film. The story of the bank robbery has been done and the chasing part too, but this story has different elements to it that made me enjoy the film. You have the story of Will and him trying to do the right thing and his relationship with his brother. It has a lot of players besides Will and Danny. Cam is in the ambulance and while the chase is going on she has to be a cop that has been shot, and that just adds to the tension.
I think the movie is highly entertaining for those who like action- thrillers. It has plenty of action and a good story to go with it.
Jake Gyllenhaal is great in the film and is the main villain, the one willing to do anything to reach his goal. Matten II also gives a good performance as the one who just got caught up in a hard situation. The film has a good cast.
