I have seen a few of the Texas Massacre films and they fall under the slasher film genre. Of all the known characters under this genre, Leatherface is one I have never been a big fan of. But like the others I’ve seen from the series, I gave it a shot.
So this one serves as a sequel to the 1974 film. Taking place many years later, a group of young people go to this town to sell the properties in an auction. One building used to be an orphanage and an old lady was living there. The guy running the auction kicks her out believing he owns the property. When the lady dies it awoke Leatherface who lived with the old lady.
I think this movie will find its audience. For me, it was not scary just gross. Like most of these films now, they are too predictable and just rely on doing interesting kills of the victims and how bloody. The story serves only as an excuse to bring out the character so it was nothing special.
I can enjoy this genre of movies, but for some reason never liked the Texas Massacre films. So, if you are a fan of the series I’m sure you will enjoy it because it keeps the format of the other films. It even brings out a character from the original, played by a different actress though.
