Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001)

Directed by Christopher Columbus

Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, John Cleese, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Richard Harris, Robbie Coltrane

I have tried to skip these films all my life, don’t know any reason why, maybe at the time I just did not care for that film or the franchise. Now, after seeing the HBO Special, I decided to give the films a fair chance. See them as if I had no idea about them. For the next Saturdays, I am committed to seeing all the Harry Potter films.

I just saw the first film. It is an introduction film and these films tend to be slower than the others as the characters are established and the story takes shape. But, the fact that it was slow at times did not stop the film from being interesting and fun. I have to admit I liked the film and know that it will keep getting better. I think Chris Columbus was a good choice for the years they were kids because he has experience with films for kids or involving kids. The film was funny, had cool characters and good action scenes. Q

The film has an amazing cast and it includes the actors playing Harry, Ron and Hermione. Having so many screen legends adds a lot to the film.
