Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra
Starting Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Paul Giamatti, Edgar Ramirez
I have been trying to see this movie since it arrived at Disney + in November. Not that I wanted to or was looking forward to seeing it through if I can be honest. As I started to see the movie I had no expectations of any biased opinion or the film.
Dr. Lily Houghton is set on finding a Tree called “Lágrimas de Cristal” and she steals an arrow artifact believing that holds a key in finding the Tears of the moon. She hires Frank to serve as a skipper as they set out to find what she was looking for. But there are others interested in the Tears of the moon.
This is one of those films where I can’t say it’s bad but at the same time, I can’t say that it’s great either. It felt like a toned-down version of Indiana Jones. The movie is fun, so it is not a waste of time to see it. It did have funny moments and cool action scenes. Since the movie is based on a Disney ride they came up with a good enough story. The chemistry between The Rock and Emily worked, they were funny together.
Like I said in terms of the performances it boils down to Emily and Dwayne, for me they made the movie work. Edgar Ramirez is a good actor and he was good as Aguirre, a Spanish conqueror cursed with immortality.
It took a while to see the movie and I enjoyed it for the most part. It is a nice adventure film, a little predictable, but it was fun still.
