I have said this before, maybe in my review of other Halloween films, the first two Halloween films are among the scariest films I have seen. I think it was brilliant the use The Shape. So, even though I have not completely enjoyed the rest of the films.
This one follows the events of the last film released in 2018. An injured Laurie is taken to the hospital believing Michael was finally killed. But Michael once again rises and this time past survivors and the town take action to stop Michael.
I felt the movie was fine. Again it had a few suspenseful moments but in truth, I felt the movie relied on gore to provide the sense of scare. As a fan of the first two films, it is nice to see Laurie and other known characters back but the story was just predictable for me. I enjoyed it in the sense that I passed the time seeing it. It is hard because of all the films now as an audience we can tell where will Michael come out and kill. They remain serious, unlike Jason or Freddy who later became funny kills, in that sense I applaud them. But I was hoping for a different ending, won’t go into detail to avoid spoilers.
The performances are good. The actors did their jobs with what they had. The teenagers were an improvement, they were not annoying.
Not a scary movie in my opinion, but it is not a bad movie to see if you’re looking for a slasher film that is not entirely bad.
