Directed by Theodore Melfi
Starring Melissa McCarthy, Kevin Kline, Chris O’Dowd
Today has been a strange day for me, I wanted to see a movie but was too lazy to go to a movie theater. So I remembered I wanted to see this movie and it was released today.
The story is about Jack and Lilly. They suffered a loss and they are trying to reconstruct their lives. Jack is in a mental institution and Lilly recommended by Jack’s doctor, starts talking to Dr. Larry Fine who is a former doctor now a veterinarian.
The best thing I can say about the film is that it was nice. I think they were a few things I would have liked to see, but still, it’s a moving picture with good performances. What I mean when I say I would have liked to see more I mean that the relationship between Lilly and Larry I felt needed more screen time to see Lilly’s healing, but that was just me. It does have some funny moments but is always in the right tone with the overall subject of the film. I also have to praise the songs used in the film, they added and were lovely songs.
I am not a big McCarthy fan but in this movie she was good. She was funny and yet she was able to portray the emotion in the character. Kevin Kline is a great actor and he is great in the scenes he is on. Chris was also good in his performance.
I thought the movie was nice, the kind of film to see at home if you are looking for a drama movie.
