Imagine: John Lennon (1971)

Produced by John Lennon and Yoko Ono and Phil Spector

I’m writing this on September 9, 2021, the day album celebrates its 50th anniversary. This is considered by many his best album or second behind Plastic Ono Band. For me, it’s his best album.

Plastic Ono Band was a huge success in terms of reviews and it is considered a classic because of the honesty and the openness in Lennon’s words. For Imagine John was able to still speak his mind and have political songs as well as more commercial songs. This is a great album, the melodies in songs like Jealous Guy and Imagine, with lyrics both romantic and witty and clever.

It is an important album and of course, the song Imagine is an anthem of peace. The song is just perfect both in lyrics and the music and what a great performance. The band on the album sounds great and how great that a few of the songs the lead guitar is played by George Harrison.

To me, this is Lennon’s best album. He was determined to make a great album and he did it. To celebrate the anniversary a clear vinyl edition.
