Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton
Starring Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Fala Chen, Benedict Wong,
I remember when the movie Guardians of the Galaxy was released I did not go to see it because I knew nothing of the characters. Years later I saw them and lived them. I was not going to do the same mistake twice. I have not read a comic book about Shang-Chi but I was going to see it.
The story is about Shawn is living in the United States and works as a valet with his friend Katy. One day riding the bus they are attacked by members of the 10 rings and there Katy learns of Shang-Chi’s past and together goes back to his home to stop his father.
Just a summary of the story, I don’t want to give away anything. All I want to say is that Marvel did it again. Even without knowing much of the character, I liked him right away and the movie has a lot of action and some good funny moments, most of them thanks to Awkwafina. I liked the story and the villain was well developed and had powers and good fighting sequences. It is different from other Marvel movies but that was part of what made it great. I loved the cinematography and the places they went through.
The performances were all great. Simu is a welcomed addition to the MCU, as well as Awkwafina. One performance was great and good to see but I won’t reveal it, I had no idea he was going to appear.
Don’t miss it if you are a Marvel movies fan. It has great action, comedy, and a good story.
