Directed by Jonathan Hensleigh
Starring Liam Neeson, Benjamin Walker, Laurence Fishburne
It is good to see Liam Neeson in a film that does not feel like Taken. Taken was such a success and deservingly so, but after that, he appeared to take roles that felt similar. This one seemed different and I wanted to see it.
The film starts as some 26 miners are trapped after an explosion. They need to have three wellheads save those trapped. To get them there, three truck drivers go on a dangerous ice road to rescue the miners.
I had few expectations for this movie but I have to say I liked it. As an action/suspense movie I think it worked. It had a few things working for it. The characters had to battle the bad guys as well as nature with the ice and the snow. Even if it is a typical action movie, I believe it was a good one. Both the action and suspense start early so the film gets interesting quickly.
Liam Neeson after Taken has become an action star. I liked this one because it did not feel like another Taken-type character. He is a great actor and can entertain an audience that is for sure and he does in this film.
I have to say that I was entertained by the movie and that it had me interested and in suspense, I mean I knew they would win, but the how kept me interested. The movie is on Netflix.
