Directed by Joe Carnahan
Starting Frank Grillo, Naomi Watts, Mel Gibson, Will Sasso
I saw this film on Hulu and decided to see it just because Mel Gibson appeared in the movie.
The story is about Roy Pulver. He is stuck living the same day over and over again. And every day he has to survive some people who are after him to kill him. He has to figure out who is after him and put the pieces together to solve his situation and protect his son.
I have to be honest. The story felt a little ridiculous and not the part where he repeats the same day. But as an action film where we normally forgive a few things if the action is good, I did not mind those aspects in the story that I did not like. The concept was interesting and the action sequences are good. The repetitiveness of the scenes is part of the story but it got tiresome. But overall I had fun with the movie and enjoyed it for what it is, just an action film. I did not like the ending that much won’t say why to avoid spoilers.
Mel Gibson is good as the villain. He did not have a lot of scenes but good actors are always able to shine in any role but this role had little potential in terms of a demanding performance. The same applies to Naomi. The real burden falls on Frank and I thought he delivered.
The movie is no masterpiece but it is entertaining. It is a good action movie.
