Directed by Craig Gillespie
Starring Emma Stone, Emma Thompson, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser
Another installment of Disney movies focusing on the villain or taking those well-known animated movies and making their live-action films. Some I have liked others not as much. But I wanted to see this one even though I have never been a fan of 101 Dalmatians.
The movie tells the origin story of Cruella De Vil. From her childhood where she ends up an orphan. She meets Jasper and Horace and the three become a family. Cruella has always wanted to be a designer… and for her birthday her friends get her to work in a store and later get discovered by a famous designer who ends up being more than she expected.
What I liked about the movie, first I liked the style of the film, from the music to the colors and how the scenes were shot. The story is good, I liked it even though at some point it gets slow until the final act arrives where it picks up the pace again. But I have to say I enjoyed it. I thought she would be eviler even though she was bad in the film.
Emma Stone continues to prove to me that she is a great actress. I love her performance and think the movie is worth watching because of her performance. Emma Thompson is a proven actress and in this film she gives a great performance. The actors who played Cruella’s closest friends were funny and gave the film a lighter side.
I can’t say to anyone that still does not go to a movie theater to pay the premiere access. But I payed it and I enjoyed the movie. Not perfect but it has a lot of good moments and Emma’s performance is great in my opinion.
