I don’t review a lot of series, but I felt this one deserved a post on my blog. There are times where you find a show that is unique and that it’s worth seeing. This one premiered on HBO max in April and consists of 8 episodes that are now available on the streaming service.
The story is told in the present with the aid of flashbacks. Is the story of Hazel and Byron. Byron is a brilliant man who is responsible for a lot of the technologies in the world. When he meets Hazel he asks her for a date and they go out. He takes her to this cube that can take them anywhere and he asks her to marry him. They live in what they call the Hub and it’s not all as perfect as it seemed.
I thought the story was great, even if it deals with a familiar storyline (no spoilers) I felt it was done uniquely and with great sidelines stories. I loved the characters, both the primary and the secondary. The development of Byron as a character was interesting, this eccentric character that just wanted to live in the Hub.
Ever since How I Met Your Mother, I have loved Cristin, I even hated the ending on HIMYM because I preferred her to Robin. In this series, she is funny and charming and does a great job with the character. Billy Magnus was great and was given an interesting character to play. And of course, it does no harm to have to Ray Romano who is so funny without trying to be with this character.
I don’t know if there will be a second season, I hope so. But I think it was a good series and easy to see, the episodes lasted no more than 30 minutes to the beat of my memory.
