I had no real motivation to see this movie. When I first saw the trailer it just did not grab me. When I saw it on HBO Max I gave it a chance.
The story is about a group of teenagers who are in an institution as they discover and learn to control their powers.
This movie felt like some version of Nightmare on elm Street 3. With the concept of a special group of kids in an institution. And since this is a hero film with a horror-style story the more similar it felt. But contrary to the Freddy film, this one I did not enjoy. I did not like the characters nor the story. The horror aspect of the film did not work for me, the “demons” looked silly to me, and the situations were overdone. I just did not like the movie at all. The mutant abilities were not impressive and the overall film was not good in my opinion. I admire that they tried something new with these Marvel characters but for me, it did not work. It had its cool moments and cool monsters but not enough for me.
The performances were alright, but none stood out for me. But I think they the best they could with the script they had. Not even the connection with X-men made it interesting for me.
