Directed by John Lee Hancock
Starring Denzel Washington, Jared Leto, Rami Malek
In these times I have to say I’m thankful for HBO Max for giving us these new films on their streaming services and giving people the option to see them in a movie theater or at home. This one got my attention because of the cast and I like investigation-crime films.
JoeDeacon now works as a rep but was once a detective in LA. When he is sent there again to take some evidence back because of his reputation, Jim Baxter the detective that replaced him invites him to take a look at a case. Joe takes off to try to solve a murder he could not solve years passed and help Jim with his case.
The good about the film is that it keeps you interested and that it is suspenseful. The story is told in a way that you know something is odd but don’t know what character is the odd one. As an audience, I feel like throughout the movie we know we are being set up for something to happen at the end. It is a movie that can keep you interested. It is a good thing when a film makes the audience want the movie to end to see the outcome, this happened to me in this picture, I just wanted to see what would unfold. I won’t go into details, but I was a bit let down by the ending.
This movie has three great actors leading the way. It is always a pleasure to see Denzel’s performance. He sure played this character so great. The body language achieved by Washington was perfect for this role. Rami Malek was also great in the film. I am not a big fan of Jared Leto but he did give an intriguing performance.
Available on HBO Max I think it makes a great alternative if you want to see a movie at home.
