Directed by Susanne Bier
Starring Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant, Edgar Ramírez, Matilda De Angelis
Yesterday was the finale for this great miniseries exclusively available on HBO Max. The Undoing is the story of this important Doctor and his family and how the sudden murder of Elena Alves alters their world. Nicole Kidman plays Grace Fraser, a successful psychotherapist who is married to Jonathan who is an oncologist and they have a son named Harry. Grace meets this mysterious woman named Elena Alves, her son goes to the same school as Henry and they meet in a school fundraiser committee. Grace develops an interest in helping her. Everything changes when Elena is suddenly murdered and a series of events change Grace’s life and her family’s.
I have to say that they did a good job with this miniseries. The first thing they went with just 6 episodes instead of extending the story too much. It went to the point and every episode remained thrilling and interesting. When each episode ended I was left intrigued with what could happen next. In the beginning, it seemed clear who the guilty one was but that changes quickly and by the end, you are hoping to find the truth. And it does a great job and not being predictable.
Hugh Grant has surprised me with this performance. Finally, he has taken a role that takes him far apart from his usual role of late and he nailed it. Nicole Kidman is a proven actress and once again she delivers a great performance. Donald Sutherland is such a great actor and time after time he continues to deliver great performances. The cast overall is very good, Matilda is haunting as Elena.
All six episodes are now available on HBO Max, I think it’s a good show to watch and now you don’t have to wait for Sundays to see each episode until the end.
