Directed by Chris Columbus
Starring Kirt Russell, Goldie Hawn, Judah Lewis, Darby Camp
I remember seeing the first film and was surprised at how good it was. It was fun and it had a nice story. I felt that even with the normal Christmas storylines, it had a bit of imagination and originality.
Years later, Teddy and Kate are in Cancun n vacation with their mother and new boyfriend and his son Jack. Kate is having a hard time and decides to run away. She encounters this guy who offers to take her to the airport and ends up sending her and Jack to the North Pole because he wants to use them to get back in the North Pole and ruin Christmas.
Just like Home Alone, Columbus makes a sequel taking what happened in the first one and take it further and keep some elements of the first film. For example, in Home Alone both films have the mysterious scary person that ends up being friends with Kevin. This one had the Santa rock song. I enjoyed it, it was a bit predictable at times, but it served its purpose, it’s a nice family film for everyone to enjoy. The story was nice, the element of the cursed elf wanting to destroy Christmas was fun because he was an inventive elf and came up with cool schemes to defeat Santa.
Having Kurt Russell and real wife Goldie Hawn together in the movie was just perfect. They are good in the film as these two iconic characters. The elf is funny, almost felt like the gremlins at one time but never ugly.
Is it a perfect film, not really. But like I said it is a good film to see as a family.
