I was always reluctant to see this movie, if I am honest I am not a big fan of musicals. I enjoyed Mamma Mia but that was due to the music of ABBA and the characters. Now many years since the movie was released I decided to see it.
The story is about P.T Barnum. It starts when he is little and falls for the daughter of a rich man. When they grow up they get married and Barnum chases success to give her the life he promised his wife.
The movie deals with important issues like acceptance and the cruelness of people in high society. Also, the classic story of a man focused on success losing sight of the true love that is around him. I am not a fan of musicals so the ones that get me to see them to the end are the few the story grabs me and I can go past all the singing. This one achieved it. It had a lovely story of family, love, and acceptance. The music I admit some I loved and others not so much but that in no way made me like the film less because I just liked the story and the characters.
Hugh Jackman’s performance is really good. He demonstrates his talent as an actor throughout the entire film, both in singing and dancing. The cast and the performances are the real gem on this film and what makes it worthwhile seeing. This is me is the best song and the most powerful scene in the film, along with From now on, those two songs I really liked.
