Beetlejuice (1989)

Directed by Tim Burton

Starring Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Winona Ryder,

Tim Burton came up with a few classics in the ’80s and ’90s like Edward Scissorhands and Batman to name a few. But there is one film and character that to me it’s his best and is this one.

When Adam and Barbara suddenly die in a car accident they find themselves in their home as ghosts. The problem comes when a family moves into their home and they want to get them out. They seek the help of Beetlejuice a crazy ghost to help scare the family away.

The film is something else visually. I liked the originality of the dead characters, the sand monster, and the whole look. The story is inventive and clever. To have what appears to be a government agency for the dead was a nice touch. The effects were stop animation and it looked great. Even after all these years seeing it again was so much fun. The characters are all unique and work together so well in the story.

Now the main thing for me was Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice, he simply is amazing in this movie. The character is funny and steals every scene he is in. The classic scene in the dinner table still made me laugh. Alec and Geena are also good and I love all the dead characters.

This is a classic film of its time, I think it is a fun film filled with wacky characters and fun moments, especially from Beetlejuice.
