Starring Keanu Reeves, Renée Zellweger, Jim Belushi, Gugu Mbatha-Raw
I stumbled upon this legal film today and I started seeing it just to see how it was, I had to finished it. I am a fan of films centered on lawyers and trials. This one is not well known and I can’t say it’s the best film of the genre but it sure was entertaining.
The story is simple really, Keanu Reeves plays Richard Ramsey, a lawyer who is asked to defend a 17-year-old Mike that is accused of murdering his father. The one thing I found interesting about this film is that Mike never talked to his lawyer. So the lawyer had no strategies and no way to prepare.
I have to admit that I found myself glued to the film and once I started I could not turn it off. I think I was intrigued because I knew something big was going to happen but I had no idea what. Keanu Reeves gives a solid performance and so does Renée Zellweger. It was good to see Jim Belushi on film again and in this movie where I can say if what is said about his character is true or not.
As I said, this is not the best film ever or anything like that, I just enjoyed it. Maybe is that these days movies are hard to come by because there are no new ones coming out, but I think it was entertaining.
