A lot of time has passed since I saw this film last. As I was seeing it again it really felt like a new movie but with the same feeling of enjoyment I felt when I first saw it. The 80’s were a time of great adventure films and this one was of the best.
The story is about a group of kids who called themselves the goonies. The area they live the houses are being foreclosed. While going through the attic of Mickey’s father they find a map and decided to go on one last adventure before they have to move.
Today for my generation this film generates a lot of nostalgia but I have to say the film holds out and anyone seeing now can enjoy it. There are movies that I loved growing up that when I see them now I don’t like it the same way. Not this one, I had so much seeing it again at 40. The movie is funny, it has adventure and action. I did not remember that it was directed by Richard Donner who also directed Superman and Lethal Weapon. I remembered Spielberg was involved. Each kid has a unique personality and each brought something to the film. They were memorable characters from the kids to the villains.
I have to say that I loved seeing the movie again. Many familiar faces like future Thanos Josh Brolin, Sam from Lord of the Rings, and a few others. This is a fun film to see with the family and good option for these stay at home times.
