I was not interested in suicide squad, I really have not seen it to this day, but the little I saw of Haley Quinn I liked the interpretation of the character.
The story of the film finds Harley Quinn trying to find a new life after breaking up with the Joker. Once the word is out all those that hate her set out to kill her. To save her life she offers to find a diamond for a big crime lord.
What a disappointment, I think the movie and the character had real potential. I understand that the film would be irreverent because of the character but they could have gone another way. I did not like the back and forth of the narrative. This is where Marvel beats DC, they craft the stories instead of just going for easy violence. I would have liked a deeper development of Harley, not like Joker, but at least something. The movie is not bad, it can entertain, but the style of the film was not my kind.
The best thing in the movie is Margot Robbie, she is really good at Harley. I think given a better script her performance would have been better. Ewan McGregor is a great actor, but I did not see him as a villain. The rest of the cast was good but the characters really were not complex.
As a comic fan, I remember loving the stories and sometimes comic book movies forget that part, yes the comics had action and funny things but the stories had substance. Something Marvel films for me have and some DC movies too.
