My predictions or who I want to win on this Sunday’s Golden Globes

This Sunday its the Golden Globes Awards and I am excited because I found this year had many good films and performances. Here are my predictions or who I would like to win in the main categories.

Best Motion Picture – Drama

The Irishman” (Netflix)

“Marriage Story” (Netflix)

“1917” (Universal)

Joker” (Warner Bros.)

“The Two Popes” (Netflix)

For Best Picture drama for me it’s The Irishman. It really was an epic movie, felt like the films of another era. A close second is Marriage Story.

Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama

Cynthia Erivo (“Harriet”)

Scarlett Johansson (“Marriage Story”)

Saoirse Ronan (“Little Women”)

Charlize Theron (“Bombshell”)

Renée Zellweger (“Judy”)

Now here most predict Renée Zellweger will win, bit I think Scarlett Johansson should win because her performance had more depth and the movie was better. Renée was great in Judy but for me the movie was not as good as Marriage Story. But I think it is between them.

Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama

Christian Bale (“Ford v Ferrari”)

Antonio Banderas (“Pain and Glory”)

Adam Driver (“Marriage Story”)

Joaquin Phoenix (“Joker”)

Jonathan Pryce (“The Two Popes”)

This category is one tough one. I think Joaquin Phoenix will win, his performance was at another level and is very deserving. But Adam Driver was also great in Marriage Story, so I’m really torn between them.

Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
“Dolemite Is My Name” (Netflix)

“Jojo Rabbit” (Fox Searchlight)

“Knives Out” (Lionsgate)

“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” (Sony)

“Rocketman” (Paramount)

Another hard category, I wanted to see JoJo Rabbit because it looked great, picking between the three movies I did see, I would pick Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Dolemite was a very good film and is my second choice to win in this category.

Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy

Ana de Armas (“Knives Out”)

Awkwafina (“The Farewell”)
Cate Blanchett (“Where’d You Go, Bernadette”)

Beanie Feldstein (“Booksmart”)

Emma Thompson (“Late Night”)

Can’t pick did not see any of the nominated films, well I saw Late Night but I don’t think that performance is one to win as great as Emma Thompson is.

Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy

Daniel Craig (“Knives Out”)

Roman Griffin Davis (“Jojo Rabbit”)

Leonardo DiCaprio (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”)

Taron Egerton (“Rocketman”)

Eddie Murphy (“Dolemite Is My Name”)

For me it is between Leonardo DiCaprio and Eddie Murphy, I think Eddie has a real shot here and he did give a very good performance. But Leonardo was amazing in Once Upon a Time, but I think Eddie has a better shot.

Best Motion Picture – Animated

“Frozen 2” (Disney)

“How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” (Universal)

“The Lion King” (Disney)

“Missing Link” (United Artists Releasing)

“Toy Story 4” (Disney)

I would say Toy Story 4 or Frozen 2 but I don’t know about this one.

Best Actress in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture

Kathy Bates (“Richard Jewell”)

Annette Bening (“The Report”)

Laura Dern (“Marriage Story”)

Jennifer Lopez (“Hustlers”)

Margot Robbie (“Bombshell”)

I know JLo is getting a lot of press for her performance I don’t know if she is better than Laura Dern in Marriage Story, but I have feeling JLo will win.

Best Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture

Tom Hanks (“A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood”)

Anthony Hopkins (“The Two Popes”)

Al Pacino (“The Irishman”)

Joe Pesci (“The Irishman”)

Brad Pitt (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”)

This is the hardest category, I would give it to Hanks, Pesci, Pacino and Brad Pitt. I can’t predict who will win but I love for Al Pacino to win awards on his first really good film and he deserves it, he was great in the film.

Best Director – Motion Picture

Bong Joon-ho (“Parasite”)

Sam Mendes (“1917”)

Todd Phillips (“Joker”)

Martin Scorsese (“The Irishman”)

Quentin Tarantino (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”)

For director I think either Scorsese or Phillips will win.
