Spaceballs (1987)

Directed Mel Brooks

Starring Rick Moranis, Bill Pullman, John Candy, Mel Brooks

This is a film that I have seen so many times and still makes me laugh so much. Coming from Mel Brooks who before this film had made already made funny films like History of the World and Blazing Saddles among others.

The film is a parody of Star Wars. The empire here is called Spaceballs and they need to kidnap the princess from Druidia to steal all the air and take it to Spaceballs city.  Lone Star (a mix of Han Solo and Luke) is hired to rescue the princess and in the journey learns to use the magical power known as the Schwartz.

It helps to know about the original trilogy of Star Wars to laugh at the jokes even more, but it is not necessary, it will make you laugh anyway. The jokes are simple And silly but they just work.

The cast in this film is amazing. First is Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet, he is so funny on this film. He is is my favorite character on the film. The great John Candy as Barf, Lone Starr faithful companion, a Mawg, half man half dog, his own best friend as he says when he introduces himself.

I think this is one of the funniest films I have ever seen.
