John Wick (2014)

Directed by Chad Stahelski

Starring Keanu Reeves, Willem Dafoe

I realized yesterday that tomorrow will see the release of John Wick 3 and I was yet to see the first one so I decided to rent the first film and see how it is.

The film is about an ex-hitman that gets married and leaves that world behind until his wife dies. As the last gift, his wife sent him a dog so he has someone to love. When a Russian gang steals his car and kills his dog, John Wick goes all out for vengeance.

I had heard many jokes about the fact that he goes out for vengeance because they killed his dog, even though there was a bigger significance. I thought the movie was good, I liked that it was his dog instead of the family like is usually the case, or rather a person because dogs are part of any family. I also liked the action a lot and the fact that John Wick gets hurt at times and has helped also. I really plan on seeing the sequel and depending on that I see the third one, I hope is not like the Taken movies, the first one was great but the others really were not.

It is recommended as a film to just enjoy and not have any expectations of an original story or anything deep in the story. I would say that it is a good film just as Taken was, you just wanted to see John fulfill his mission.

Keanu Reeves is an underrated actor, and he is really good in this movie. You can see anger and the pain in his face.
