I am really not a huge fan of Jennifer Lopez, but my wife liked this one so I decided to see it with her. And I was surprised at somethings in the movie, it had a nice story, even though it felt familiar to me to the Jennifer Aniston movie Picture Perfect.
The story is about Maya Vargas, an assistant manager at a local value shop. She is not satisfied with her place in the world or feels like she has to prove herself to the world to feel good about herself. The son of a friend of hers makes a fake resume and a fake life in order to help her a job that’s better than the one she has. And that is how she lands at a big company that designs skin care products.
There was something in the plot I did not expect and that added a bit of heart to the story. It made it a film of redemption in many ways and learning to love yourself and who you are. What it feels inevitable it that you already how certain things in the movie will go, it was predictable in some things. I also found it hard not to see Jack every time Milo was on the scene, not that he played it the same way, but it was almost the same kind of character, good and honest and really loved Jennifer’s character.
It was a nice film to see, don’t if I would see it again. But it had good parts in the story and did not feel like the usual film Lopez makes.
