Guardians of the Galaxy (2017)

Directed by James Gunn

Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Bradly Cooper, Vin Diesel, Kurt Russell

The first movie for me was a pleasant surprise, I was not expecting to like it as much as I did. In fact, I only saw it a couple of days ago. So thankfully the sequel is in Netflix so I saw it. Sorry I missed it in the theaters.

The film starts with the Guardians of the Galaxy battling a monster attacking a planet. Their pay was that they gave the Nebula who they had as a prisoner for stealing special batteries. Rocket steals a few and because of that they end up being attacked and their ship breaks down and they land on a planet. They are helped by a man who then invites them to his planet. The planet Queen where the batteries were stolen hires Yodun to bring the Guardians back to her planet to kill them. Nebula manages to get free and goes after Gamora. There is a lot of twists in the story I don’t want to spoil them just in case someone reads this and have not seen the film.

I have to start by saying this movie has one of the best opening scenes of the Marvel movies. Groot dancing to the beat of the song Mr. Blue Sky while in the background the Guardians are in battle was so funny and great. Each member gets hit trying to warn Groot to hide. The first was one was a great movie, this one was even better. I really like the comic tone of the movie and how they integrate music into the action scenes. I would have to consider the Guardians of the Galaxy movies one of the best in the MCU. The story was really good, it had many things to keep you interested. Kurt Russell was great in the film and having scenes with Sylvester Stallone was really cool.

I never thought I would like these films so much, but they are in fact really good.
