I’m sorry it took me a while to continue my look on the MCU movies but I was yet to see the next one in line. After finally seeing it I have to say I don’t know why it took me this long to see it.
The movie begins with Peter Quill losing his mother and then he was abducted by a spaceship. We then are taken to when Quill is an adult and he is a smuggler who then sales what he steals. He then steals the Orb which contains one of the Infinity Stones. When Ronan who works with Thanos finds out he has the orb he sends Gamora to retrieve it from Quill. Quill is also being followed by Yondu who wanted to kill Quill for betraying him. Rocket and Groot spot Quill and decide to take him because there is a reward for capturing him. And there Gamora, Quill, Rocket and Groot all fight each other until they are arrested. There they agree to escape together to bring the orb to the Collector to split the money he agreed to give Gamora for it. In prison they are joined by Dax who agreed to not kill Gamora if she brought Ronan to him so he could avenge his family death. When they reach The Collector, Ronan is tipped by Dax that Gamora is there and they take the Orb. Quill saves Gamora’s life and is captured by Yondu, they agree to fight Ronan and, in the end, he gives them the orb. Rocket, Dax and Groot go after them and joins them in the quest to take the orb from Ronan.
I completely regret not seeing this movie before and in the theaters. I was told it was a good movie but I guess since I did not read the comic books like I did for the other characters, I did not feel motivated to see it. But after seeing it for the purpose of my blog, I have to say it’s one of the best films in the MCU. It was funny and there each character is so unique and each adding something. It was not like most films where there is a group of heroes where sometimes one member is not as good as the rest. Here I liked all characters and they all had their moments. I liked the story and how even though is an origin in some ways, they come together quickly but yet not forced. It was also an important movie because this film features on of the stones and I believe it features Thanos more than in the film that came before.
The cast was really good. I have to say that I loved the Rocket character and how Bradley Cooper did the voice. Chris Pratt was funny as Quill, the character reminded me a bit of Han Solo in the attitude and how he slowly becomes a hero. One thing Marvel does well is putting established actors in small roles but they add something to the movies. I think of Robert Redford in Captain America, Annette Benning in Captain Marvel, and in this film, we had Glen Close.
Overall, I was really surprised at how much I liked this movie, too bad it took me this long to see it.
