Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo

Starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan and Robert Redford.

The next film in the MCU, today we look at the sequel to Captain America. This movie is for me one of the best of the Marvel Studios, until I saw Civil War.

The film is set after the events of Avengers and Steve and Black Widow work for S.H.I.E.L.D. They are sent on a mission to free hostages and secretly Black Widow is supposed to extract information from the ship’s computer. Steve confronts Fury and is told about a project that after not being able to figure out the data, fury warns the Secretary of Internal Security to delay the project. After this Fury gets shot in Steve’s apartment by the Winter Soldier. From then on Captain America knowing he can’t trust anyone sets to find the Winter Soldier. He is helped by Black Widow and a friend he made while jogging, the Falcon. Steve finds out that the Winter Soldier was his long time friend Bucky. Fury faked his death and in the end confronts the Secretary who was really in on the cover up. The film ends with Bucky saving Captain America and escapes.

This movie continued my view that the best chapter of single characters are the Captain America movies. This one is full of great plots and twists. Having the great Robert Redford was a nice surprise. That first time they face the Winter Soldier is so great. I think with this sequel they took what worked in the first one and made it better.
