Iron Man 2 (2010)

Directed by Jon Favreu

Starring Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Mickey Rourke, Don Cheadle, and Scarlett Johansson.

The success of the first film meant that a sequel was surely coming. The third film in the MCU and a very good sequel.

In this film, Tony Stark is more known as Iron Man. He goes suited to the Stark convention and makes a show for those in attendance. The situation for Tony is that he thinks he will not survive the condition in his heart due to what happened to him in the desert. While he is facing that, the government wants the secrets of his armor but Stark refuses to give it to them saying its better off only in his possession. There are two villains in the film, Ivan Vanko wants revenge on Tony and since his father also worked on the tech used by Stark, he uses that to make a weapon to attack Iron Man, Justin Hammer seeing that hires him to make the weapons for him as he wants to beat Stark Industries by all means. The film introduces two important characters. His friend Rhodes uses an armor to stop a drunk Tony and War Machine is born, and later both take down the weapons created by Hammer. Tony is helped by Agent Romanoff also knows as Black Widow, undercover as his assistant sent by Fury.

The sequel was effective and fun, though for me the Mickey Rourke character could have been exploited a bit more. The scene he fights Iron Man in the race track was really great. The film has a perfect mix of action, story and funny moments that make the film very entertaining. Downey continued to make the character better and Don Cheadle does a good job as Rhodes, though the reasons they changed actors was not clear to me.

Of all the Iron Man films this one is my favorite, the third one was a bit of a let down for me, but we will get to that later.
