This is a perfect film really. The first Mary Poppins is a Walt Disney masterpiece and Julie Andrews even won the Oscar for Best Actress for her work in the film.
I have to say I enjoyed Mary Poppins Returns, it was funny and emotional at the same time. I liked that the story felt connected to the first without repeating itself. The one thing I liked is that the effects felt right, they did not over use today’s technology, for example the live and animation together looked amazing and yet familiar the original, specially the penguins.
Emily Blunt did a fantastic job, she did a lot of things that felt familiar but yet it was not an imitation of Julie Andrew’s portrayal of the character, the same goes for Lin-Manuel as Jack. I am not a big fan of musicals but the songs in the movie were very good and the song sequences worked very well. The great Meryl Streep does what she always does, and so did Colin Firth. Cool fact, the films has in it three cast members from the Mama Mia movies (Streep, Firth and Walters)The movie for me was magical, I really enjoyed it and I wished I was a little kid and Mary Poppins could fly in and go on adventures.
